Dump-and-Bake Alfredo Chicken Ramen Casserole

Ramen in a casserole dish? Stay with me.

This Dump-and-Bake Alfredo Chicken Ramen Casserole is my go-to on busy weeknights. You put the noodles in dry. They cook right in the creamy sauce. So you skip the boiling, and you skip the extra pot.

Why This Works

Dry noodles soak up the sauce as they bake. That means they taste like the sauce.

Boiled noodles turn mushy in the oven. Dry ones stay chewy.

Here is the catch. Two jars of Alfredo are not enough liquid. The noodles drink it all, and you get crunchy spots. But if you add water and cream, the noodles soften and the sauce stays creamy.

You only need one seasoning packet. It salts the noodles from the inside.

What You Need

For the base:

  • 6 blocks dry ramen noodles (do not cook them first)
  • 1 chicken seasoning packet from the ramen
  • 2 cooked chicken breasts, shredded

For the sauce:

  • 2 jars Alfredo sauce
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup heavy cream

For the topping:

  • 1½ cups shredded mozzarella
  • Freshly grated Parmesan, to taste
  • Italian seasoning, to taste
  • Butter or cooking spray, to grease the dish

How to Make It

  1. Set your oven to 350°F (175°C). Then grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Lay the 6 dry ramen blocks in the dish, side by side. Sprinkle the seasoning packet over them.
  3. Spoon both jars of Alfredo over the noodles. Spread it out evenly.
  4. Scatter the shredded chicken on top.
  5. Pour 1 cup of water into one empty Alfredo jar. Shake it, then pour it over the dish. Do the same with the cup of heavy cream in the other jar.
  6. Cover it all with the mozzarella. Add Parmesan and Italian seasoning.
  7. Bake for 45 to 50 minutes. The noodles should be soft, the sauce should bubble, and the cheese should be golden. If the top browns too fast, lay a loose piece of foil over it.
  8. Let it rest for 5 minutes. Then scoop and serve.

My Tips

  • Press the noodles down. Every block needs sauce on top, because dry spots stay crunchy.
  • Skip the other seasoning packets. One is plenty, and more makes it too salty.
  • Shake the jars hard. It’s free sauce.
  • Leftovers keep in the fridge for 3 days. Add a splash of milk when you warm them up, and the creaminess comes back.

Variations

Broccoli. Add a couple handfuls of small florets with the chicken. They soften as it bakes. I like this one.

Rotisserie chicken. This is the easy way to get 2 cooked breasts. Just shred it and go.

Extra garlic. Sprinkle garlic powder over the noodles with the seasoning packet. It’s nice, but it’s not a big change.

Make-Ahead and Storage

Don’t build this early. Dry noodles in thin sauce are a gamble, so bake it right after you put it together.

Put leftovers in an airtight container. They keep in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat them with a splash of milk.

FAQ

Do I really not cook the ramen first?

Right, don’t cook it. The noodles cook in the oven, in the sauce. That’s the whole point.

Can I use raw chicken?

No. Use cooked, shredded chicken, because raw chicken won’t cook safely in this bake time.

Why add water to an Alfredo casserole?

The noodles need liquid to soften, and two jars of sauce aren’t enough. So the water thins the sauce just enough to cook them through.

Can I use all the seasoning packets?

I wouldn’t. One is plenty. With Parmesan on top, more packets get salty fast.

How do I reheat leftovers?

Add a splash of milk. Then microwave them or warm them in the oven until hot.

Why are my noodles crunchy?

It’s almost always a dry spot. Some noodles weren’t pressed into the sauce. Next time, push them down before you add the cheese. And use foil if the top browns too fast.

Final Thoughts

Serve it with something green and sharp. A simple salad with a lemony dressing cuts the cream well. A bagged salad kit works fine, and nobody is judging.
