This easy Air Fryer Sweet Potato recipe makes perfectly tender and fluffy sweet potatoes with lightly crisp, caramelized skins. Serve them simply with butter, salt, and pepper, or add your favorite toppings for an easy side dish.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 medium sweet potatoes about 12 ounces each

Method
 

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F for 5 minutes.
  2. Scrub the sweet potatoes thoroughly and pat them completely dry.
  3. Poke several holes in each sweet potato with a fork.
  4. Place the sweet potatoes in the air fryer basket in a single layer.
  5. Air fry at 400°F for 40 to 50 minutes, flipping the sweet potatoes halfway through the cooking time.
  6. Check for doneness by piercing the center of each sweet potato with a fork. They are ready when the fork slides easily through the center and the potatoes are tender throughout.
  7. Split the sweet potatoes open and serve warm with butter, salt, black pepper, or your favorite toppings.

Notes

The 40 to 50 minute cooking time is intended for medium sweet potatoes weighing approximately 12 ounces each.
Smaller sweet potatoes will cook faster, while larger sweet potatoes may require additional cooking time.
You can cook more or fewer sweet potatoes at the same time as long as they fit comfortably in a single layer in the air fryer basket.
Check the potatoes near the end of the cooking time since air fryer models can vary.
