Method
- Cut the sweet potatoes into approximately 1/2-inch fries or matchsticks.
- Place the sweet potato fries in a large bowl. Add the avocado oil, cumin, paprika, cinnamon, salt, and black pepper. Toss well until every fry is evenly coated.
- Arrange the fries in the air fryer basket so there is enough space for air to circulate around them. Depending on the size of your air fryer, cook the fries in two batches if necessary.
- Set the air fryer to 400°F and cook for 15 minutes.
- After 15 minutes, remove the basket and shake it to move and turn the fries.
- Briefly rearrange the fries to allow even airflow around them.
- Return the basket to the air fryer and cook for another 10 minutes.
- Check the fries for doneness. If needed, continue air frying for an additional 1 to 5 minutes, checking every 1 to 2 minutes so they do not burn.
- Once the fries are finished cooking, open the air fryer drawer immediately so the fries do not steam and soften inside the basket.
- Sprinkle with additional sea salt if desired and serve immediately with burger sauce, ketchup, honey mustard, or your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
The fewer fries you place in the air fryer at one time, the faster and crispier they will cook.
Arrange or stack the fries loosely so hot air can circulate around them.
Cooking time can vary depending on the thickness of the fries and the size and model of your air fryer. Check frequently during the final few minutes.
