  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon garlic minced
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 3 1/2 cups beef broth
  • 1/2-1 cup sour cream start with 1/2 cup and add more to taste
  • 12 oz medium egg noodles
  • 1 teaspoon parsley fresh or dried, for topping

Equipment

  • Large Skillet with Lid
  • Wooden spoon
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Method

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the ground beef and chopped onion to the skillet.
  3. Season with salt, black pepper, dry mustard, paprika, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, and onion powder.
  4. Cook until the ground beef is browned and fully cooked, then drain any excess grease.
  5. Add the minced garlic and Worcestershire sauce. Stir well to combine.
  6. Add the butter to the skillet and let it melt.
  7. Stir in the flour and cook for at least 1 minute.
  8. Add the egg noodles and beef broth. Stir well to combine.
  9. Bring the mixture to a bubble, cover the skillet with a lid, and reduce the heat to medium-low.
  10. Cook for about 10 minutes, stirring once halfway through, or until the egg noodles are tender.
  11. Once the noodles are soft, stir in 1/2 cup sour cream. Add up to 1 cup total sour cream if you prefer a creamier stroganoff.
  12. Top with fresh or dried parsley and serve warm.

Notes

Start with 1/2 cup sour cream and add up to 1 cup depending on how creamy you want the stroganoff.
Stir the noodles once halfway through the covered cooking time to help them cook evenly and prevent sticking.
