Ingredients

For the fruit
  • 1 can sliced peaches in heavy syrup 29 oz, or the no sugar added kind
For the topping
  • 1 box vanilla cake mix dry, straight from the box
  • 1 stick butter 1/2 cup, cut into thin slices
  • cinnamon sugar and brown sugar a sprinkle, optional

Method

  1. Pour the whole can of peaches into your slow cooker, syrup and all.
  2. Sprinkle the dry cake mix over the top and spread it out so the peaches are covered. Don't stir.
  3. Lay the butter slices over the cake mix so they cover as much of the surface as possible.
  4. Add a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar and brown sugar if you like a sweeter, crunchier top.
  5. Put the lid on and cook on high for 2 hours. Every slow cooker runs a little different, so check it around the 2 hour mark.

Notes

Cover any dry patches of cake mix with butter. Dry spots stay powdery. Lay a clean kitchen towel under the lid to catch steam, so the top doesn't turn soggy. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Leftovers keep in the fridge for 3 days. Reheat a bowl in the microwave for 30 seconds.
